Ep. 28: Javon Johnson is a Biracial (Black-White) man raised in New York City by his father, a Black man and single parent, who was and is Javon’s mentor and role model. After a prolonged separation, Javon reunited with his White mother. Listen as Javon discusses the challenges he faced growing up in a predominantly White neighborhood, the impact that his family dynamic had upon his understanding of his identity, and how he has come to embrace all aspects of his persona.
Javon is a New York native, born in Manhattan and raised in Brooklyn. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from SUNY at Buffalo in 1994 and after a few years in the corporate world decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a hairstylist. Some time later, he became a real estate broker and his experiences as a multiracial person coupled with his knowledge of New York City have enabled him to work with people from all races, ethnicities and walks of life to assist them in finding the best possible physical space for their needs. To speak with Javon about his real estate work, please see his brokerage’s website, www.ejmbcommercial.com.
