It’s Rosh Hashanah, which marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. However, as I’m sitting here trying to impart upon our 3 year old the significance of that, I’m having a hard time pointing to the “new” in this New Year. For example, though it is a new year, (Hebrew Year 5775), a couple of things seem eerily familiar:
1. The Mets are still mediocre
2. Global Warming is still a problem
3. The Rich keep getting richer
4. The GOP still says President Obama can’t do anything even while maintaining that he is single-handedly responsible for everything that happens
5. The cost of everything keeps going up while salaries remain remarkably flat
6. Toddlers still say “No” like they get extra points for volume and frequency of uttering that word
7. People who were crappy parents still are the most vocal in giving parenting advice
8. White kids with dreadlocks are still annoying, no matter how just the cause they’re supporting
9. Racism and Anti-Semitism are still a favorite hobby of people who aren’t even smart enough to know why they’re racists or anti-Semites
10. A nap is still the best answer to almost any question.
