Today, a jury issued a verdict holding that in creating the song “Blurred Lines” Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke plagiarized Marvin Gaye’s song, “Got To Give It Up.”

Earlier this week we honored the 50th Anniversary of the 1st March in Selma.

What do these things have in common?

On their face, nothing.  But, upon closer reflection, there is a parallel, and it’s this: while it’s important to not live in the past, we must remember and honor the past and those who came before us and upon whose shoulders we stand in reaching our achievements.
