Being a Dad Means: Part 9

Being a parent is great.  It’s also tough stuff.  But, ultimately, it’s a journey that you go on with your child wherein you learn a lot about your child, the World and yourself.

As we begin this week, here are a few lessons I’ve learned of late:

1. Being a dad means “luxury” is going to the bathroom alone, without interruption, and with the door closed.

2. Being a dad means that my credo is: “avoid any action that results in child therapy.”

3. Being a dad means, I’m okay with my son being a bodybuilder, but I’d prefer that he be a mind-builder and money-builder. And, if he can do it in one shot, so much the better. #BillGates #SteveJobs #irritatinglyrichhedgefundmanager

4. Being a dad means instilling in my son a love of watching football but of playing soccer. #fearofconcussions #hospitalbills

5. Being a dad means sounding authoritative even when explaining your own ignorance.

6. Being a dad means at least once a week your plagued by the thought that “Empty Bank Account Isn’t Much of an Inheritance”

7. Being a dad means wishing you could do a Vulcan mind-meld with your child so that they will avoid all those stupid mistakes you made, or at least avoid one of them.
